Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoo Feather Earrings

Grab a pair of unique Australian earrings while supporting endangered species recovery. 

Listed as Vulnerable at the state level (South Australia), the Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoo species is known for its calming and distinctive Kee-ow call as it loafs across the horizon. Its powerful beak is capable of breaking open dense cones and seed pods as well as tearing, stripping back bark in search of wood borer larva.  It is predicted that the range of this species will reduce under climate change scenarios, however the species seems to be adapting somewhat to man made environments and peri-urban spaces. 

Each piece in our rare species range is delicately hand painted on a timber base and carries its own unique characteristics. Due to this some minor variations from the pictured product are to be expected.

Each piece from the endangered species range is designed by me (Nat) on Adobe Illustrator following a sketching session on my iPad.

From there I laser cut it on my handy at home machine on to a piece of timber, then hand sand each side for a smooth finish.

Each piece is then hand painted with premium acrylic paint and varnished on both sides. Lastly they are secured to their respective fittings with super strong jewellery specific glue or attached to high quality metal fittings.
