Supporting a cause

Grab a unique Australian brooch and support endangered species recovery.

This SA specific, wet eucalypt forest dweller, is often found in dense shadowed gullies where it hunts its prey, largely earthworms, in wet leaf litter.  It is a secretive, sedentary and solitary bird, often only spotted by the most committed enthusiasts. This sub species is nationally listed as endangered and has suffered significant declines throughout its range (from kangaroo island, along the Adelaide Mount Lofty Ranges and into southern Flinders Ranges) driven by inappropriate fire regimes, drying habitat and weed invasion.

5% of all net earnings related to the rare species range will be donated to threatened species recovery programs. Sign up to the mailing list to track donations.

Each piece in our rare species range is delicately hand painted and carries its own unique characteristics. Due to this some minor variations from the pictured product are to be expected.

APPROXIMATE DIMENSIONS:
Height: 4cm
Width: 5.5cm

Hinged pin backing, iron (nickel free).

Each piece from the endangered species range is designed by me (Nat) on Adobe Illustrator following a sketching session on my iPad.

From there I laser cut it on my handy at home machine on to a piece of timber, then hand sand each side for a smooth finish.

Each piece is then hand painted with premium acrylic paint and varnished on both sides. Lastly they are secured to their respective fittings with super strong jewellery specific glue or attached to high quality metal fittings.
